What is the latest computer package to get, is it xp?

I am about to purchase a computer Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition comes with, I am wondering if this is new or and old hardware. I do not know too mcuh about my intended purchase, would love some info on what package, Should I buy XP or get Windows 98 or something. Am I right in thinking that its 98, 99, 2000, and should I take it as gospel or with a pinch of salt?|||XP, soon to be Vista (when released).

XP home edition will be fine for you.

Professional is a little better, but only really for networking.

If the PC comes with it, don't buy another XP.

98, 2000 and millenium are ancient and totally crappy, don't get these at all!!!!!!

Oh, and you're talking about software.

Hardware is what the software needs to run on, and hardware needs the software so you can use it.|||Just a note - yes, you are talking about software, technically, but recently software means "applications", while XP is an "operating system" where applications can run.

|||XP Proffesional|||XP is the current one , the new one "Vista" is just around the corner .|||vista will be out soon, if you can wait a few months to make your purchase|||windows Vista beta version|||Windows XP is the latest OS from Microsoft.

Windows 95, 98, ME, NT %26amp; 2000 are all past their sell-by dates. Of the lot, only Windows 2000 is still supported. And it's in Extended Support.|||Anything before XP is OLD! But if your willing to wait a few more months Microsoft Windows Vista should be coming out. I think it's supposed to come out December or the beggining of next year. But if you're getting something now, XP Home is the best!|||well window vista is due, but seeing how your quite new to it all XP will be around for a good bit. you mentioned 98?? I'm just very curious, what are you using now? or are you just pulling our legs? im sure you have to be using 98 or xp.|||windows xp professional or windows vista....vista still in beta but can be found and installed if you know where to look|||it's 95, 98, NT 4, 2000, Millennium, XP (for end-users); 2003 Server for servers (I don't advise you to choose that, it's really cut down on some functionality like camera recognition).

The next one is Vista, and, AFAIK, it will be released for end-users possibly in January 2007; if you can't wait half a year (or more; its release has been delayed several times), go for XP.|||xp is currently used for home or professional user.
