Is it possible to use microsoft word on a ubuntu package computer?

As far as I know, Word will only run on Windows and you need a word processing program written for Linux - just google for one. Search for 'word processing + linux'.|||Yes, you can. You could use either Wine (http://www.winehq.com/) or CrossOver Linux (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxof鈥?/a> to accomplish that.|||Why would you want to when there are better (and Word compatible) freeware products out there? AbiWord and OpenOffice to name but two.|||There are various things that try to allow you to run Windows under Linux, or run both at the same time. I don't know if Word works under any of those.

However, I agree with the first couple of responses. You are better off running something native that will allow you to read/write Word files.
