Has there been any known errors/problems with the Gateway Desktop computer series?

I'm looking to buy a $749.99 Gateway computer. (The whole package is roughly $1000). If anyone has had any problems with this brand tell me.|||well just saying gateway is quite vague. its like saying im buying a chevy....without the model and stuff there is really no way to answer that correctly. but if you have a computer nerd friend get him/her to build you one homemade pc's are usually better than factory.|||It doesn't matter what brand you choose; every brand has known issues. However some companies are worst then others. In my opinion I would avoid Dell and Gateway like the plague; as far as cost they are the least expensive; but as far as quality they are the lowest; they use the cheapest parts; they outsource most of the support; and they have poor customer service.

I would go with either Toshiba, Acer or HP. In my experiences in fixing these; they are built the best and fail the least. Now these will cost more then Dell and Gateway; but you get what you pay for.

I used to work at a company that repaired desktops and notebooks down to the motherboard level and after working there I would never buy a gateway and would only consider buying a dell if it was VERY VERY cheap.|||We don't identify PCs from the price, but from the make/model #. BTW, is it a laptop, desktop or what?

Go to the library %26amp; look up computer ratings in "Consumer Reports" magazine, they rate PCs at least once a year. CR doesn't accept advertising, they're a non-profit organization %26amp; their review are impartial %26amp; unbiased. They buy everything they test off the shelf (they don't accept any "freebies" from the manufacturers which could be absolutely perfect specimens).

www.cnet.com %26amp; www.pcworld.com are excellent places to look up reviews %26amp; ratings of PCs, laptops, electronix, etc. You can look stuff up by brand, price, rating, features, etc.
