Is there any special equipment that must be used to store computer components?

I was wondering if computer components such as processors need to be stored in certain conditions or packaging to protect it.|||Temperature, humility, and static electricity can destroy components.

I would seal the more vulnerable components in their own individual packages or better yet, anti-static bags. CPU, Memory, Motherboards and any kind of open circuit boards (Video cards, Modems) are the more sensitive components. Components such as HDD's, DVD drives and enclosed devices can simply be placed in cardboard boxes. Magnets can cause damage to hard drives. Keep them away from audio speakers, which usually have magnets.

I would keep these components at room temperature but you can store them at reasonable temperatures. Nothing below freezing, and nothing about 98F.

Humidity typically becomes a problem when the temperature is raised and lowered in a short period of time. It's like a cold glass of water, the way the humidity sticks to the outside of the cup and causes water beading.|||they should be stored in static free bags|||Antistatic Bags
