I want to cancel Computer Associates security package from my computer. How do I do this?

If you installed the CA security package, you can simply go to the Control Panel to Add or Remove Programs and remove it. Sometimes the technique for removing an anti-virus package is more complicated than the usual procedure, so make sure you follow the directions.

If you're trying to remove the CA package installed by your work or school IT department because it's blocking you from accessing certain websites, talk to your IT department rep.

Does anyone have knowledge with shipping a computer on a plane?

Hi I'm looking to ship my computer out during flight. I know how to package it and stuff, but I was wondering what process this all goes though? I already have 2 suitcases ad would it be an extra charge to have them personally ship it with me or is it a different catagory?|||You could be charged for extra baggage. the airlines allow you carry on luggage and so many checked bags. Usually you get one free check and are charged for the others and to avoid being over the weight limit check with the airline you intend to fly with to see what guidelines they have for baggage. It may be cheaper to ship your computer and some of your luggage. It is best to call the airlines and know what the charges will be ahead of time so there are no surprises and no time for alternative methods. Also, will they insure the computer for loss or damage. Another question to ask.

Windows XP, why does my computer blink off and on when I shut off the TV?

How to remove obnoxious plastic packaging ?

Any time I buy something like a mouse for my computer, or a calculator or other small electronic, it's packaged in plastic that is almost impossible to get open. I usually end up having to use a knife and almost always get at least one massive cut on my hand. I can't even imagine what it must be like for senior citizens. Had anyone found a "trick" for removing this kind of packaging??? It's ridiculous and almost has me ready to boycott anything that is packaged in that manner, no matter how badly I need it !!!|||You are so right - and so are the people above BUT if you really wanna zip right through those puppies with ease, use small a pair of tin snips or sheet metal cutters. If i format my computer do i have to re-purchase vista?

i have this terrible virus that shuts me down every 20 minutes so that a complete virus scan won't have enough time to detect it. Anyways my only option is to format it. I have all original packaging including the code. My friend said (computer nerd) said i would be able to get a month of free vista with the serial code before having to buy it. Is this true? and is backing up the same as copying and pasting to a thumb drive or cd?|||first, format isn't a term i think you are actually meaning.

second, you should have the original dvd or a kidden recovery partition on your system if it's a retail computer.

actually, if you have vista and a key code (or not even) you can use vista for 4 months for free w/o actuivation or key. you can actually install any version of vista and not type in the ksy while installing it.|||How long have you had the virus? Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System tools, then click on System Restore. This can bring your computer to an earlier state.

Try malwarebytes.org and do a quick scan after installing/updating it. If a bunch of viruses get found immediatly, abort the scan and delete those. Then reboot. Try it again and see if your computer is fine. If it isn't, do another scan and try to get more caught. Delete those. If the virus keeps coming back, you could have a RAT virus.|||I would just put in the back up CD's that came with Vista if you don't have them then just go out and get windows 7 its much better than vista. also when you back up your files you are also going to back up the virus so be careful with what you do. I recommend downloading Malwarebytes (link below).

If that doesn't work then try booting from an antivirus "rescue" CD (three links below). Basically you download an ISO file, use a burning program like Nero to convert the ISO file into a bootable CD, boot from the CD and use it to scan the hard drive. Hint: download the ISO and burn the CD on an uninfected computer if possible.

Lastly, if you do decide to format the C: drive and reinstall Windows, your existing product key should work just fine. It will be on a label with a Microsoft hologram somewhere on the PC.|||If you don't have the CD, then Yes you do have to purchase

If you DO, then No.

How do you save a flash game onto your computer so that you can play it without connecting to the internet?

My connection is a real pain in the neck. Whenever I try to play a flash game online, it gets stuck. Is it possible to play these games offline on our computer? I don't have macromedia flash package but i have the adobe flash player. is it possible to download these games and play them without connecting to the internet?|||use Firefox and browse to the page that has the game on it. Right click on the page (not the game) and click "show page content" or something like that. It will come up with a window. Scroll down till you find the game (it may look weird, it should say "embed" and end in .swf.

Click on that, then click "save as" or "download" or something in the bottom of the screen, and your done!

Please vote as best :)|||Using Firefox browser is easy as it allows you to download 'add-ons' just for just this type of thing. Do a search for FireFox add-ons then search the add-ons section for Flash Video Downloader.

Once installed (needs a restart) - a blue arrow should appear at the bottom right of your screen. Click this and it will ask you where to save it. It may show several files, just choose the one that resembles the name of your game. Remember this location and make sure you open that file with Firefox again.

The game should now work whether you're online or offline. Some Flash developers have got smart to this though - and certain games can only ever be run from the website. If the game does not play, this could be the reason, however you should try right click on the the game and select play.

If you struggle with any of the steps above, look at YouTube for any tutorial videos.

Hope this helps...|||The easiest way would be using an online flash downloader to downlaod it, There is one here to recommend: http://www.swfkits.com/flash-downloader/ it can detect flash files as long as it's in .swf format and auto download it to your PC. More, if you like, you can even proceed to convert those downloaded flash games to other popular video formats for easy sharing with more friends and on more platforms.|||If you have firefox then you can just simply click save page as... then choose where you want and then open the game from the saved location.

You first have to load the game 100% then save it

If anyone has had any problems with this brand tell me.|||well just saying gateway is quite vague. its like saying im buying a chevy....without the model and stuff there is really no way to answer that correctly. but if you have a computer nerd friend get him/her to build you one homemade pc's are usually better than factory.|||It doesn't matter what brand you choose; every brand has known issues. However some companies are worst then others. In my opinion I would avoid Dell and Gateway like the plague; as far as cost they are the least expensive; but as far as quality they are the lowest; they use the cheapest parts; they outsource most of the support; and they have poor customer service.

I would go with either Toshiba, Acer or HP. In my experiences in fixing these; they are built the best and fail the least. Now these will cost more then Dell and Gateway; but you get what you pay for.

I used to work at a company that repaired desktops and notebooks down to the motherboard level and after working there I would never buy a gateway and would only consider buying a dell if it was VERY VERY cheap.|||We don't identify PCs from the price, but from the make/model #. 鈥?Integrate commercial computing packages = "can you use Visual Studio"

鈥?Use computer operating system = "know how to get to your BIOS settings"

鈥?Work effectively in an IT environment = "do ur dang job"

鈥?Communicate in the workplace = ''play well with others"|||that depends on your definition of "hard", knowing how to use a computer would be a good start, if you count bugs and give strangers great big hugs, maybe not for you

I am limited in computer experince so the more user friendly the better. I am not limited in a price budget. Just need some advice.|||Of course the iPhone will give you internet.

As far as computers go, you need to first figure out which kind of card or phone you plan to use to connect to the internet. Some cards might use USB while others will use an actual card slot in the computer. Once you decide that, then I would look to see if a MacBook or a MacBook Pro is what you need. If you have time or are in the right location, I would suggest going to a local Apple Store and getting some time with one of the Specialists or Geniuses who can discuss it with you and show you your options. Chances are, you'll be using the computer for more than internet, and overall, Apple will give you the better experience. I know because I've used both platforms. |||Most laptops have an option for an internal phone card so you can access the internet through a celluar network.

You might want to consider a laptop that is built a bit more rugged than the typical consumer models such as a Dell Latitude E6400 ATG "Meets strict MIL-STD 810F requirements for extreme temperatures, vibration, dust intrusion and altitude"

http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products鈥?/a>

Also gaming quality laptops are often built to more rugged standards with both the Dell XPS M1730 and the Dell/Alienware m15x having very solid construction and will cost less than the E6400

You should also grab an extra battery pack or two depending on your anticipated access to power. Keep in mind that most specs for the hours of operation on battery power are hugely optimistic and 2 hours is a good safe way to calculate how many spare batteries you want

If the camcorder uses miniDV or Digital8 tape, it uses the DV port (this is a 4-pin) and connects to the firewire port (not USB) of your computer. If you don't have a firewire port, install one. The port installed on the computer will be most likely 6-pin... but can be 4-pin. It depends what you have or decide to install. You need firewire400 (Also known as i.Link or IEEE1394a). USB will only be used for web streaming (if the camcorder has the feature) or for transferring stills.

If the camcorder is hard drive or flash memory based, it should mount using USB and appear as a USB mass storage device. If it does not, you need to install the drivers available on the CD in the box or download from Sony.

If the camcorder is DVD based, you will need to have a drawer loading DVD drive on your computer and you will rip the DVD with something like HandBrake.

If the camcorder is analog (hi8), you will need to get a Analog/Digital bridge from Pinnacle or Canopus.

If the camera is for taking stills and happens to take highly compressed videos, take the memory card out of the camera and use a card reader to transfer the videos to the computer.|||Trying to get your video into the computer? read my guide for tips on doing that here...

I'm guessing I need to purchase this code or the entire package. What the most cost effective way to do this?|||This is the code that you need to activate your software.

You can get a trial code free of charge for 3 months. I think there is a link in that box asking for a code that you can request a trial code. Just go there and get a code I think you have to have a hotmail account also which you can create in 2 minutes.|||Good guess.|||Forget that stupid Microsoft rip-off.

Get Open Office, a FREEWARE program that does everything Excel does, and can open/edit Excel files for you.

I highly recommend it.|||OK I don't think your stupid enough to think that anybody reading this is going to put that here.

So let's make a jump and figure maybe you would like to be open MS files or use an Excel spreadsheet.

You can dl openoffice and use it for free which would solve any legitimate reason for asking this question.

http://www.openoffice.org/|||If you have purchased the computer within the last couple of months, you might have the code in your recovery disk package. Check on the packaging of your recovery disk. Mine was on a card with the code, on the back side of the card on a yellow sticker. If not, then you could download the free OpenOffice program and use it at www.openoffice.org . It works for Microsoft Office formats and other formats. It even exports into a .pdf file format. Great program.

Is it possible to use microsoft word on a ubuntu package computer?

As far as I know, Word will only run on Windows and you need a word processing program written for Linux - just google for one. Search for 'word processing + linux'.|||Yes, you can. You could use either Wine (http://www.winehq.com/) or CrossOver Linux (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxof鈥?/a> to accomplish that.|||Why would you want to when there are better (and Word compatible) freeware products out there? AbiWord and OpenOffice to name but two.|||There are various things that try to allow you to run Windows under Linux, or run both at the same time. I don't know if Word works under any of those.

However, I agree with the first couple of responses. You are better off running something native that will allow you to read/write Word files.

Is the 'Microsoft word document processor' sold separately in a Hewlett Packard computer's software package?

This computer has trapped my documents and an upgrade demands $140 +/- to access them. Is there a costless solution to this or do I have to find another manufacturer that sells their computer with microsoft basic word processor that will not cost extra after the initial purchase?

I need my resumes freed.|||If you have .doc files then you will need a program that can open these type of files. While 90% of the world seems to use Microsoft Word, there are other programs that can open Word documents. There is a free word processing software called Open Office that will open Word documents:

Why has my computer slowed down over the years?

I am a casual user. I use my computer for email, websurfing and I have a 3D design package on it. The computer is 4yrs old. What is happening to make my computer slow down over time? It is a Compaq desk top with cable internet. When I first got the computer it was fast. I have MacFee premium and use adaware software, no threats detected. Please answer this as if I am ignorant of how computers work, becasue I am. Thank-you.|||It could be that there are programs on your computer that are slowing it down. Use the control panel feature to check out which software is installed on your computer. Remove anything that you haven't used in a long time and/or no longer need. That might make things faster.|||um porn addict much?|||double click on My Computer icon%26gt;Control Panel%26gt;System %26gt;Performance (look at the system resources....it'll show you what percentage of your PC memory is left...the smaller the percentage the slower the machine will get...I would never let mine get below 25% free)

Also, you need to run the defragmentation program ever so often to help the PC 'organize' files together instead of having fragments of info here, there and everywhere on the hard disc that forces the PC to hunt all over to bring up a file...this is especially true the more you create, modify, delete and download data.

Also, the web pages we see today are alot more complex than four years ago, so your machine takes longer to load the pages. Upgrade your RAM. That'll help a little bit.|||If you mean to say that you have not formatted your hard drives even once in the last 4 years, than it is bound to be slow!!! Whatever you may do, a computer will get slower if it goes on running unformatted for more than a year. Still, some basic tips to speed up your computer may be found here:

http://pctonic.blogspot.com/2007/02/spee鈥?/a>|||Over time your computer (blame Windows!!) adds more and more files and updates. Most of these get stored away in old temporary folders that your computer forgets about. That is why your computer is slowing down. Think of it as never changing the oil in your car. The engine gets build-up and crap in it and your performance begins to degrade. With a computer it's sometimes necessary to to backup all of your programs and files onto an external hard drive and reinstall Windows. This can take many hours to do and is a big pain. A computer repair shop could do it for you if you want to go that route.

In the meantime, here some things that you could do without having to do a clean reinstallation.

To speed up your computer try this:

1. Start%26gt; Run%26gt; type: msconfig

2. Click "Startup"

3. Disable any program that absolutely DOES NOT have to startup when you first turn on your computer. Quicktime and RealPlayer are the number one culprits. They do not need to be running when you start your computer. You can start them when you need them. Make sure that you only disable the programs/apps that you are sure of. System32 files need to be running.

4. Download Ad-Aware SE (freeware) and use it to remove spyware. Spyware slows your computer waaaaaay down.

5. Use your anti-virus software to ensure your computer is clean. www.avast.com has an awesome FREE antivirus programs that kicks a** and uses far less resources than MacAfee and WAY less than Norton. PCWorld says it's just as good as the pay antivirus services.

6. Rearrange your hard disk for slightly better performance.

Here's how:

I. Start%26gt; Control Panel%26gt; Upper left corner make sure you are looking at the Category View (not Classic View)

II. Click "Performance and Maintenance"

III. Click "Free up space on your hard disk" and follow the instruction to remove old junk files.

IV. Click "Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs runs faster" It will take 30min-1hr+ to finish this step. The Windows program will rearrange your computers files in a better configuration and remove spaces and gaps.

V. Add more RAM (memory). This is one of the best things that you can do for your computer to speed it up!!

I hope this helps. Good luck!! You better give me some points for this. It took me a while to type it!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA!!|||I understand your problem - I have had the same troubles in the past. The problem is that most Windows OS have a life span. Experts say that in about 9 months, a fresh install is usually necessary.

Over time, you error files are accumulated that slow down your programs and can even cause crashes. The more you use your computer, the more error files are created. The most frustrating thing is that these error files are created from simple day-to-day computer usage.

Now I use a small software product called PC Speedscan.

http://www.pcspeedscan.com

It's a small and inexpensive utility I use it to clean up my PC once every two weeks or so. It removes these accumulating error files, fixes all registry errors and does a lot of other cleaning up activity. I now have a PC running for over 12 months and I haven't seen any deteriation in its performance. However, I would suggest using the program regularly - at least once a month. Do try out PC Speedscan and let me know your feedback.|||1.You have to clean up temporary internet files that are accumulated.

2.Keep minimum programs that auomatically starts.

Trust me, get an eMac and Logic Express, and you will have an incredibly sick music studio inside a computer. Make and record any kind of music.

In the future, you will be able to plug-in microphones, turn tables, guitars, and amplifiers. Almost any music equipment you can get can be plugged in to add value to your music studio in a computer.|||Are you into turntablism/scratching or just matching up music?

If you just want to match up music, you can get any cheap digital turntable - plenty of them (although toy quality) are under 350.

If you want to get into turntablism, its another story. You will want vinyl since its actually easier than digital turntablism. Then, move into the digital aspect. You could start that with a $150 turntable and $20 in sample records and a cheap $100 mixer. A beginners setup yes, but you are just getting into it.

Remember, with digital, there is latency - the delay of the act to the computer. You can spend 500 alone on a soundcard w midi that reduces latency. Digital turntables can hold 'timecode' audio that is run into your computer. The timecode sounds like noise, but its really data. The computer hears that scratched data, and in return, scratches the audio digitally on your computer. Not something for me personally, but it is a interesting thing nonetheless.

We have a home computer and it has norton anitvirus,my son just got laptop, can he get a different virus prot?

or should he be able to get the one we have on the home computer included in our package?|||get anything you want...|||He can install any antivirus package he likes on that laptop.

While it is definately true that you only want to install one antivirus application on ONE computer, that does not preclude you from choosing different antivirus suites for different computers. So you can have Norton on your computer, Trend on your son's laptop and any number of antivirus apps on any other computer that happens to come into your household.

Now, one thing you may have going for you is that Norton (and most of the major antivirus producers) now sell the software in a package that allows you to legally install and use the antivirus suite on up to three computers.

If you purchased a retail version of Norton antivirus, the odds are good you have this licensing model. Check the documentation that came with the Norton software. If you do indeed have the full retail version, you should be licensed to install that on three computers. You've used one license for your computer, so you should have two licenses available. If you wish, you can use another license to install the Norton software on your son's laptop.

If you don't have the standard home-user version of Norton (for example, the version you are using came bundled with your computer when you bought it) you still have options.

Of course, you could buy a copy of Norton (or any other major retail antivirus package) for his computer. Or, you can try any of the really good free antivirus applications that are out there. Here are links to a few:

You'd need to weigh in cost versus quality. Dell, I have heard, uses cheaper transistors on their motherboards and cheaper parts throughout the computer.

The BEST computers you can get are either built by a homebuilder who knows his stuff or by Alienware or Falcon Northwest.

Most homebuilders do not offer much technical support but the support they do offer will not have you following a ridiculous troubleshooting list that someone in a third world country is reading to you off a computer screen. I am running Norton 360 on my main computer that is connected in to the wireless network.|||As long as your other wireless clients are set up securely and there are no shares, I think you'll be okay. Make sure firewalls are enabled on other computers. If you want to be 100% safe, take the other systems down before connecting the infected laptop.|||It's not likely that anything bad would happen to the other computers. However, you shouldn't expose her computer to the Internet again until it has proper protection, especially if it's already infected.

It is better to get an anti-virus CD at Staples, Best Buy or Office Depot -- or just use one of the other computers and download the software to a CD, then put it on her computer. You should also download and install SpyBot (google it).

However, removing viruses and spyware from an already infected computer is tricky and installing the software doesn't always take care of the problem. The best thing to do is to back up her files, erase the hard drive and reinstall windows. Install spybot and anti-virus software and THEN connect it again. Though this is a pain in the ***, it is the best way to make sure her computer is safe.

Good luck!|||Try doing this:

How can I find out what operating system is on my computer?

Hello everyone,

My sister gave me her old computer. It is in really good shape. I went out and bought a flashdrive and on the back of the packaging it says that it will only work with Windows xp or windows vista. How can I find out? What else should I know about the computer? any thoughts?

thanks so much.

ruthie|||To my knowledge flash drives, pen drives and what ever they may be called, are not Operating system specific. I use all mine with Windows XP, Windows Vista and even Linux with no problems.

You can open the control panel, then the system icon and the first menu screen tells you what Windows and what service pack is installed. You can also open menus, accessories, system tools and click on system information which will display all the information about the computer and what software is installed. Belarc Advisor is free and when you run it, it will create an .html file and open your browser and display this information, including the product key code number of the windows and other programs also.

If you set it up for a printer, you can print all this information out and keep it handy when you need to find something like hardware drivers.|||Flash drives are universal. That flash drive will work just as well under Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, as well as many other obscure operating systems. Manufacturers often give bogus requirements due to software bundling on retail flash drives. Just ignore it - your flash drive will work on any computer.

As for finding out the operating system, you can usually tell on boot up by the splash screen - it should say "Windows XP Home Edition." Vista and Windows 7 aren't so obvious. To check the version, click Start, right click "Computer" and choose "Properties" from the drop down. It should list your Windows version in the box popping up.|||have you tried it by plunging in you USB drive of your pc if it wont work then you need a driver CD for the same if it come with the flash drive, mostly latest flash drives are plug and play compatible and if you want to know the version of windows type "winver" in Run, you will get Run option in "start"menu, and if it is a old version like "windows 95" or "ME"get the latest windows like "xp" or "windows7" by calling a technician, thank you|||It should still be able to work regardless.

But, simple way would be to go to the "Control Panel", and then look for something named "System".

But seriously, connect the flashdrive, and then open up "My Computer", and it should show up.|||As long as you use Windows, you can find out using the following method on ALL versions.

Right click the My Computer icon (or item on start menu labeled the same) and then select Properties.|||hi if you go to, belarc advisor download it ,it will tell you EVERYTHING that is in that computer good luck|||i agree with first ...flash drive works on all Operating systems......

New computer, what security packages do I need?

I just bought a new computer and I wanted to know what software I should purchase? I do NOT want to buy any free programs, I had avast and spydoctor on my last computer and it became riddled with viruses. I need to return something do I need the packaging?

I just baught an audio cable to connect my computer to my tv. After I took the cable out of the packaging I realised that it won't be able to give me audio with the picture. Can I now return this out of the packaging and do I need the packaging and receipt?|||If the product is as described and is not faulty and you chose it yourself, the retailer has no obligation to take it back at all.

The only exception to this would be for distance selling - ie mail order or internet where you have a short time period to return items.

Returned items should be in a 're-saleable' condition.

If you asked the seller for his advise before purchase and the goods are not fit for the stated purpose, you can return the item for a refund, but he will reasonably expect the item to be in good condition and could make a deduction for missing items such as the packaging etc.

Will packaging a Sims 2 lot duplicate files that are already on the computer?

i want to move my Sims into a new neighborhood, so i packaged the lot. they used to live in Pleasantview, but i am about to place the packaged lot into Riverblossom Hills (on Seasons). before i do this, will it duplicate the same files? and if so, will it slow down my computer? what i don't want is two of the same family in two different neighborhoods. this is what appears will happen when i place the packaged lot in Riverblossom. i just want a clean, SAFE, download-free way to move my sims into a new neighborhood. help :)|||If you are putting a lot with sims in it, assuming those sims know other sims, and are related to dead, or members off the lot, yes. How can you tell if a 32 bit app will run on an AMD 64 x2 computer before you try it?

I'm considering buying an AMD 64 bit x 2 Turion notebook computer, but don't know if my existing 16 and 32 bit apps will work on it. Also how do I tell if an app I'm thinking of buying will run on it , if it doesn't say so on the packaging such as an older game, etc.?

Thanks.|||Most possibly, it will run well in AMD 64.

AMD's 64-bit processor uses an extended 32-bit instruction set (AMD64, aka x86-64), unlike some Intel's 64-bit which uses a completely new instruction set (IA-64), which makes many older programs run in compatibility layer (legacy mode), resulting in loss of performance when running 32-bit apps in it and less compatibility. With AMD's the 32 bit program runs in 64-bit environment natively, making performance loss negligible and compatibility wider, although since the programs are designed for 32-bit they won't be capable of accessing the extra features.

The problem, however, if it exist, would be with the Operating System (OS). If you used a 64-bit OS, there might be incompatibilities introduced by the OS (although it's quite rare). If you used 32-bit OS in 64-bit processor, all would be perfectly fine.|||Your apps will run fine. Remember, not many applications take advantage of a 64-bit architecture (mostly server programs). I wouldn't worry.|||if its base under x86 (x32) it works just fine! on x64

I receive a computer by accident addressed to me that I did not order can I keep it?

I ordered a computer via a major e-commerce and shopping channel retailer by accident.(I hit a speed buy button instead of the return to list button). I immediately canceled my order and the accounts page verified that My order was canceled. I was never charged for the item, but around 2 weeks later my wife get a package via Fedex. I open it and it is a computer.

I called the retailer about it and they seemed not to know what I was talking about. Now approx 30 days after receiving the computer the retailer calls and said either I return the computer or get billed for it. They said if I return it they will pay for shipping, but I will have to package it and they recommended I get insurance for it because I would be liable for any damage that occurs during shipping or may have already occured. I do not have the original packaging any more, but they indicated they would not be responsible for providing that to me. If I keep it what am I liable for?|||Morally, you should not keep it.|||Very unfortunate for you, because though it is no fault of yours, once a thing comes to your possession that is not yours and for which you have not paid, you have to take as much care of such thing as a prudent man under normal circumstance takes care of his own property (later you might be asked and be able to prove it by way of paying insurance, reasonable upkeep charges etc) and you have to make reasonable efforts to deliver the thing to the true owner by duly intimating him or her, if known, or otherwise keep the thing with you till the true owner approaches you and PAY YOU ALL THE RELEVANT AND REASONABLE EXPENSES YOU HAVE INCURRED IN THIS PROCESS and take back the thing(goods). That is common legal position laid everywhere and is logical too. If he is not able to pay you the reasonable charges as above you have right to sell the piece at the normal price as salable in the given condition and deduct your charges and refund the balance to the shopkeeper. So you will be repaid the amount of expenses once you return and if the shopkeeper fails to pay you, you can file a case for the same. For his mistake he has to pay up and put you not in trouble.|||This is a common misconception.

If you are sent something in the mail (or by delivery) which is COMPLETELY unsolicited. i.e. you have had no previous contact with the sender, then you may, in some circumstances, consider the item to be a gift. IF it is an item of considerable value, then it is reasonable for the sender, if it was sent by mistake, to ask you to return it at their cost.

Under the present fact pattern, the above DOES NOT APPLY. An error in their software and/or YOUR ERROR caused the item to be shipped to you. You must return the item, or be willing to pay for the item.|||It is not ur mistake|||I Know This Sounds A Bit Childish But "Finders Keepers !!!"

Why Do You Wanna Pay the insurance, and also be held responsible for any damage while the computer is in transit ?|||You already know the answer... How to tell if a computer is really new?

Hi, I recently purchased a computer online, supposedly "Brand New," but I noticed that it was not in its original packaging, so I'm not sure if it is actually "brand new" as the seller claimed. Is there a simple way to tell whether or not a computer is actually refurbished/used? Many thanks in advance for the help.|||IT HAS STICKERS! :D|||If it's a brand name computer (e.g. Dell, Lenovo, HP...) then it should come with its original discs, manuals, and accessories. The first time you power on the computer it should walk you through the rest of the Windows installation process in which you setup networking, register, and other first-time tasks.

Also there should not be a sticker on the computer that says "This is a refurbished unit."

Refurbished means it was sold to someone who returned it. The computer cannot, by law, be sold as "new" even if the customer never powered it on.
