What is the best way to fix my computer?

A few months ago, I got a new broadband package on my pc. Since then, my computer has been very slow. It takes a long time to log on to my user and doing general things such as surfing the net takes an excruciatingly long time.





What, would you say, would be the best way to make it faster? It is a old PC and hasn't got much RAM, (only 256 mb) so perhaps adding RAM could make it better?
