Is it safe to transport a desktop computer in a car?

Every week, my mom takes my stuff from her house to my dad's. I have been doing this with my Xbox 360 but am now thinking about building my own gaming computer. It would be much cheaper and powerful if it was a desktop, and I was wondering, how safe would it be for the computer to move it in a car this often. I could package it and hate being restricted on this by having divorced parents, so is it possible and if so, how?|||Hi,If you keep it out of sight and out of mind it should be alright.I also would change my times of delivery.also keep the fact to yourself about the moving of the items. Good Luck.|||You could, but try resting it on some pillows or some kind of sillicone which will reduce the shock from going over cracks and speed humps in the road. Otherwise, how about buying a net and hanging it from the roof of your car and then having the computer sitting in the net. That way, it is elevated from the floor and won't have all the shock from driving over rough parts of the road.|||It would be alright, I'd just make sure you don't leave it in a hot car for to long and just be careful with it. Gentle moving in a car won't hurt it, but a lot of banging around could kill the read/write heads on the hard drive.|||yes it is safe to transport your computer in a car. bus plane 1000's are transported daily just be careful how you handle it if you switch it on while the car is in motion (moving)|||Not a good idea. Of course if you were extra careful 100% of the time and protected it extremely well, you may be OK. Eventually, too many bumps and knocks will do something to the system. |||yea you can i did it every weekend when i came back home from working. Just lay it on its side or stand it up on the floor just keep it from falling or sliding around the back.|||The computers are more delicated than other things, but if you are carefull, there is no problem.

god luck with your parents.|||yes it is safe as long as you are careful with it and keep it in between the seats and DO NOT CRASH YOUR CAR|||just dont leave it n a hot car

and drive the car slowly|||Yeah, just be careful.|||Yes, if HDD is turn off.|||Of course, just be careful with it.
